Amol Palekar

Amol Palekar is an Indian actor, director, and producer known for his work in Hindi and Marathi cinema. Born on November 24, 1944, in Mumbai, Palekar grew up in a middle-class Marathi-speaking family. He studied fine arts at the Sir J. J. School of Art and started his career as a painter, with several one-man exhibitions and group shows. However, Palekar gained fame as a stage and film actor, as well as a director and producer. He has been active in avant-garde theatre in India since 1967 and has made significant contributions to modern Indian theatre. In the 1970s, Palekar was widely recognized for his portrayal of the 'boy next door' in Hindi films.
