Amrou Al-Kadhi Biography
Amrou Al-Kadhi, born on June 23, 1990, is a British-Iraqi writer, drag performer, and filmmaker. Their work focuses on queer identity, cultural representation, and racial politics. In 2021, Al-Kadhi made a cameo appearance in the Sony's Spider-Man Universe film 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage' as a temporary host of the title character. Born in London to a conservative Iraqi Muslim family, they grew up in Dubai and Bahrain before returning to London. Al-Kadhi credits marine biology and quantum physics for helping them understand their queer identity. They have a twin brother. Al-Kadhi attended Eton College on a two-year scholarship and later graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA and MPhil in the History of Art. They perform under the stage name Glamrou and have organized drag events and acted as a drag mother to their peers at Cambridge.
