    Amy Coney Barrett is an American lawyer and jurist who currently serves as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Born on January 28, 1972, she is the fifth woman to serve on the court. Barrett was nominated by President Donald Trump and took office on October 27, 2020. Prior to her appointment to the Supreme Court, she served as a U.S. circuit judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit from 2017 to 2020. Barrett graduated from Rhodes College and obtained her J.D. with distinction from Notre Dame Law School. She has also worked as a professor at Notre Dame Law School, teaching civil procedure, constitutional law, and statutory interpretation.
