Andrew Wegman Bird (born July 11, 1973) is an American indie rock multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. He has released 16 studio albums since 1996, along with live albums and EPs spanning genres like swing music, indie rock, and folk music. Bird is known for his distinctive violin playing style, often accompanied by loop and effect pedals, whistling, and his vocals. He started his career in the 1990s, performing with jazz ensembles like Squirrel Nut Zippers and Kevin O'Donnell's Quality Six. Later, he formed his own swing ensemble called Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire. Weather Systems (2003) marked his solo debut, transitioning from jazz to indie music. Bird's album My Finest Work Yet (2019) received a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album.
