    Andy Breckman is an American television and film writer, radio personality, and former satirical folk singer. Born on March 3, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he grew up in Haddonfield, New Jersey. Breckman is known for his creation and executive production of the Emmy Award-winning television series Monk on the USA Network. He has also worked as a script doctor, injecting humor into scripts written by other screenwriters. In addition, Breckman has written screenplays for comedy films such as Sgt. Bilko, starring Steve Martin, and Rat Race, directed by Jerry Zucker. As a radio personality, he is co-host of WFMU radio's Seven Second Delay program. Breckman's talent and expertise have made him a respected figure in the entertainment industry.
