Andy Kaufman

Andy Kaufman (January 17, 1949 – May 16, 1984) was an American entertainer and performance artist. Known for his unconventional style, he preferred to describe himself as a 'song and dance man' rather than a comedian. Kaufman gained wider recognition in 1975 when he appeared on the first season of Saturday Night Live, performing as his character Foreign Man. This led to his role as Latka Gravas on the popular TV show Taxi from 1978 to 1983. Despite his success on television, Kaufman continued to tour comedy clubs and theaters, showcasing unique and non-traditional performances. He left a lasting legacy as an anti-comedian, challenging traditional comedy conventions and entertaining audiences in his own distinct way.
