Andy Serkis is an English actor, director, and producer known for his motion-capture roles. Born on April 20, 1964, he gained recognition for his work in films such as The Lord of the Rings trilogy, where he portrayed Gollum, and the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy, where he played Caesar. Serkis also portrayed King Kong in the 2005 film and Supreme Leader Snoke in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. He has received critical acclaim for his motion-capture acting and has been honored with an Empire Award and two Saturn Awards. In addition to his film work, Serkis has also appeared in the Steven Spielberg film The Adventures of Tintin and directed the film Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle. He is set to appear in the Star Wars Disney+ series Andor in 2022.
