Andy Whitfield

Andy Whitfield (17 October 1971 – 11 September 2011) was a Welsh actor known for his leading role in the Starz television series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Born in Wales, Whitfield moved to Australia in 1999 and appeared in several Australian television series. His first prominent role came in the Australian supernatural film Gabriel. Whitfield gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Spartacus in the TV series, which was filmed in New Zealand. He also appeared in the Australian thriller The Clinic. Tragically, Whitfield passed away on 11 September 2011. His contributions to the entertainment industry continue to be remembered and appreciated.
