Angel Coulby

Angel Leonie Coulby (born August 30, 1980) is an English actress best known for her role as Gwen (Guinevere) in the BBC fantasy series Merlin. Coulby, of Afro-Guyanese descent, was born and raised in Finsbury Park, Islington, London. She graduated with a first-class degree in Acting from Queen Margaret University's School of Drama, Edinburgh, and received the Laurence Olivier Bursary in 2000. Coulby made her breakthrough in 2001 with a role in the Johnny Vaughan BBC sitcom 'Orrible. She later portrayed Gwen, a humble maidservant who eventually becomes Queen, in the popular TV show Merlin.
