Angelin Preljocaj
Angelin Preljocaj (born 19 January 1957) is a French dancer and choreographer of contemporary dance. He was born in Sucy-en-Brie, France and is of Albanian descent. His father escaped from Albania due to communism, while his mother was from Ulcinj. Preljocaj's choreographic work combines classical ballet with contemporary elements. In the early 1990s, he joined the Ballet de l'Opéra national de Paris and received the Prix Benois de la Danse in 1995. In 1984, he founded a ballet company that later became Ballet Preljocaj, now based at Pavillon Noir in Aix-en-Provence. Preljocaj has directed and choreographed numerous works including 'Aventures coloniales,' 'Marché noir,' 'Larmes blanches,' 'Peurs bleues,' 'À nos héros,' 'Le Petit Napperon bouge,' and 'Hall.'
