Angie Stone, born Angela Laverne Brown on December 18, 1961, is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer. She gained popularity in the late 1970s as a member of the hip hop trio The Sequence and in the early 1990s as a member of the R&B trio Vertical Hold. Stone's solo debut album, Black Diamond (1999), achieved gold certification and featured the hit single 'No More Rain (In This Cloud)'. She continued her success with albums like Mahogany Soul (2001) and The Art of Love & War (2007), which reached number one on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In addition to her music career, Stone also ventured into acting, appearing in films such as The Hot Chick (2002) and making her stage debut in the musical Chicago in 2003.
