Anita Carey Biography
Anita Eileen Carey (16 April 1948 – 19 July 2023) was an English actress known for her appearances in British television programmes. She began her career in the 1970s, with notable roles in Beryl's Lot, The History of Mr. Polly, and The Spoils of War. From 1996 to 1997, she portrayed Joyce Smedley in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street. Carey joined the cast of the BBC soap opera Doctors in 2007, portraying the character Vivien March for two years. Her portrayal of a rape scene on the show earned her the British Soap Award for Best Dramatic Performance in 2009. Carey was born in Halifax and grew up in Brighouse. She started acting with a drama club in Bradford and later pursued a career in television.
