Ann Doran Biography
Ann Lee Doran (July 28, 1911 – September 19, 2000) was an American character actress. She is possibly best known for her role as Jim Stark's (James Dean) mother in Rebel Without a Cause (1955). Doran was an early member of the Screen Actors Guild and served on the board of the Motion Picture & Television Fund for 30 years. Born in Amarillo, Texas, she began acting at the age of four and appeared in over 500 motion pictures and 1,000 episodes of television series. Doran worked as a stand-in, bit player, and supporting player throughout her career, and was under contract with Columbia Pictures in 1938.
