Anne Meara Stiller (September 20, 1929 – May 23, 2015) was an American comedian and actress. She was one-half of the prominent 1960s comedy team Stiller and Meara, alongside her husband Jerry Stiller. Meara had a successful career in stage, television, and film, and also became a playwright. She was nominated for four Emmy Awards and a Tony Award, and won a Writers Guild Award for co-writing the television movie The Other Woman. Meara was born on September 20, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, and was raised in Rockville Centre, New York. She studied acting at the Dramatic Workshop and HB Studio in Manhattan.
