Lawrence Ari Fleischer, born on October 13, 1960, is an American media consultant and political aide. He served as the 23rd White House Press Secretary for President George W. Bush from January 2001 to July 2003. Fleischer gained prominence for his advocacy of the invasion of Iraq during his time as press secretary. After leaving the White House, he worked as a media consultant and commentator. In July 2017, Fleischer joined Fox News as a contributor. Born in New York City, Fleischer's parents were Martha and Alan A. Fleischer. He comes from a Jewish background, and his mother is a Hungarian immigrant who lost much of her family in the Holocaust.
