Ariel Pink

Ariel Pink, born Ariel Marcus Rosenberg on June 24, 1978, is an American musician, singer, and songwriter known for his unique lo-fi aesthetic and home-recorded albums. Drawing inspiration from popular music of the 1960s–1980s, Pink's work has been influential to indie musicians since the late 2000s. He is often referred to as the 'godfather' of the hypnagogic pop and chillwave movements, which evoke the media, sounds, and technologies of past decades. With a passion for both high and low art, Pink's music showcases a distinct appreciation for independent music. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Pink started experimenting with recording music as a teenager and has an extensive collection of over 200 cassette tapes of material from his prolific early years (1996–2003).
