Armando Giovanni Iannucci is a Scottish satirist, writer, director, producer, performer, and panellist. Born on November 28, 1963, in Glasgow, Scotland, Iannucci is of Italian descent. He studied at the University of Glasgow and later at the University of Oxford. Iannucci began his career on BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 4, collaborating with Chris Morris on the radio series On the Hour, which later became the television show The Day Today. He co-created the character Alan Partridge, who appeared in several of Iannucci's television and radio programs. Notable works include Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge, I'm Alan Partridge, and The Armando Iannucci Shows. Iannucci also created the political sitcom The Thick of It and the spoof documentary Time Trumpet. He has received critical acclaim for his work in film, including his 2009 directorial debut.
