Armin Mueller-Stahl Biography
Armin Mueller-Stahl is a German retired film actor, painter, and author. Born on December 17, 1930, in Tilsit, East Prussia, Mueller-Stahl gained international recognition for his appearances in numerous English-language films since the 1980s. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Shine. Additionally, in 2011, he received the Honorary Golden Bear award. Mueller-Stahl's parents were Editta, a university professor, and Alfred Müller, a bank teller who later changed the family name to Mueller-Stahl. He attended an East Berlin acting school in 1952 after pursuing a career as a concert violinist. Mueller-Stahl had a successful career as a film and stage actor in East Germany, starring in films such as Her Third and Jacob the Liar.
