Audrey Meadows Biography
Audrey Meadows (February 8, 1922 - February 3, 1996) was an American actress known for her portrayal of the deadpan housewife Alice Kramden on the 1950s television comedy The Honeymooners. Born Audrey Cotter in New York City, Meadows was the youngest of four siblings. Her parents were Episcopal missionaries in China, where her siblings were born, before returning to the United States in 1927. Meadows attended the Barrington School for Girls in Massachusetts and later gained recognition in the Broadway musical Top Banana. She then became a regular on television, notably appearing in The Bob and Ray Show.
