Austin Lee Basis is an American actor born on September 14, 1976, in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Mark Twain Intermediate School 239 and Midwood High School before pursuing a major in theatre at Binghamton University. During his time there, he starred in various productions, including the title roles in 'Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead' and 'I Hate Hamlet.' Basis later joined the Actors Studio MFA program and earned a Master of Fine Arts in Acting. Before gaining recognition, he worked various jobs including bartender, bouncer, and substitute teacher. He co-created and performed in the improv & sketch comedy show 'Mmm...Comedy.' Basis's notable television role was J.T. Forbes in the recent version of 'Beauty & the Beast.'
