Axel Werner

Axel Wilfredo Werner is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Rosario Central, currently on loan from Elche CF. Born on 28 February 1996 in Rafaela, Werner began his career in the youth academy of Atlético Rafaela. He made his professional debut on 10 August 2015 in a Copa Argentina match against Deportivo Merlo. Werner made his Primera División debut on 3 October 2015 and became the first-choice goalkeeper for a period of time. In August 2016, he signed a five-year contract with Atlético Madrid and was subsequently loaned to Boca Juniors. Werner made his competitive debut for Atlético in March 2018 in a UEFA Europa League match against FC Lokomotiv.
