Barney Phillips Biography
Barney Phillips, born Bernard Philip Ofner, was an American film, television, and radio actor. He gained recognition for his role as Sgt. Ed Jacobs on the 1950s Dragnet television series. In the 1960s, he made appearances on The Twilight Zone, notably playing a Venusian in the episode 'Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?' He also had a supporting role as actor Fletcher Huff in the 1970s CBS series The Betty White Show. Phillips was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and later moved to Los Angeles after graduating from college. He began his acting career in 1937 and had a successful career in both film and television.
