Barry Jenkins
Barry Jenkins (born November 19, 1979) is an American filmmaker. He made his debut with the short film My Josephine in 2003 and gained recognition with his first feature film Medicine for Melancholy in 2008, earning an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best First Feature. Jenkins is also a creative collaborator for The Chopstars collective. After an eight-year hiatus, he directed and co-wrote the LGBT-themed drama Moonlight in 2016, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Jenkins received an Oscar nomination for Best Director and jointly won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. In 2018, he released his third directorial feature If Beale Street Could Talk to critical acclaim.
