Bassem Youssef Biography
Bassem Youssef is an Egyptian comedian, television host, and former cardiothoracic surgeon. Born on March 21, 1974, Youssef gained popularity as the host of the satirical news program El-Bernameg (The Show) from 2011 to 2014. His comedic style and political satire drew comparisons to American comedian Jon Stewart, who inspired Youssef to pursue a career in comedy. In 2013, Time magazine recognized Youssef as one of the '100 most influential people in the world.' Alongside his television work, Youssef has been involved in various projects such as Tickling Giants, The Democracy Handbook, and Revolution For Dummies. Prior to his comedic career, Youssef practiced as a cardiothoracic surgeon for 13 years after completing his medical studies at Cairo University's Faculty of Medicine.
