Beatrice Arthur, born Bernice Frankel on May 13, 1922, was an American actress and comedian. She began her stage career in 1947 and gained critical acclaim. In the 1970s, Arthur achieved worldwide recognition for her roles as Maude Findlay in the sitcoms 'All in the Family' and 'Maude'. She continued to captivate audiences in the 1980s and 1990s as Dorothy Zbornak in 'The Golden Girls'. Throughout her career, Arthur received numerous accolades, including a Tony Award in 1966 and two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 2008. Arthur passed away on April 25, 2009.
