Ben Welden

Ben Welden (born Benjamin Weinblatt; June 12, 1901 – October 17, 1997) was an American character actor known for his portrayal of Damon Runyon-type gangsters in movies and television shows. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Welden made his film debut in The Man from Chicago (1930) and went on to sign with Warner Bros. in 1937. With his short, balding, and rotund appearance, he often played the role of a 'heavy' in a comical or slightly dim-witted way, despite the sinister nature of his characters. Notably, he appeared in eight episodes of Adventures of Superman, showcasing his versatility in portraying different characters with a similar essence.
