Benjamin 'Bibi' Netanyahu is an Israeli politician and the current prime minister of Israel. He has been serving as prime minister since December 2022, with previous terms from 1996 to 1999 and again from 2009 to 2021. Netanyahu is the chairman of the Likud party and holds the record for being the longest-tenured prime minister in Israel's history, serving for over 16 years. He was the first prime minister to be born in Israel after its Declaration of Independence. Raised in Jerusalem and Philadelphia, Netanyahu joined the Israel Defense Forces in 1967 and achieved the rank of captain in the Sayeret Matkal special forces. He later graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked as an economic consultant in Boston.
