Benny Safdie (born February 24, 1986) is an American film director, screenwriter, actor, and film editor. He is best known for his collaboration with his older brother Josh as a filmmaker. Safdie's notable directorial works include 'Heaven Knows What' (2014), 'Good Time' (2017), and 'Uncut Gems' (2019). He has also ventured into acting and received a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male for his role in 'Good Time.' Safdie has appeared in various films including 'Licorice Pizza' (2021), 'Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.,' and 'Oppenheimer' (all set for release in 2023). Born and raised in New York, Safdie attended Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School and graduated from Boston University College of Communication in 2008.
