Bert Parks Biography
Bert Parks (born Bertram Jacobson; December 30, 1914 – February 2, 1992) was an American actor, singer, and radio and television announcer. He is best known for hosting the annual Miss America telecast from 1955 to 1979. Parks was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and had his first experience in amateur theatre at the age of four. He entered radio broadcasting at the age of 16 and moved to New York City in 1933. Parks was hired as a singer and announcer on The Eddie Cantor Show and later became a CBS Radio staff announcer. He also hosted the radio and television show Break the Bank. Parks passed away on February 2, 1992.
