    Bertie Carvel, born Robert Hugh Carvel on September 6, 1977, is a British actor known for his notable performances on stage and screen. He is a two-time Laurence Olivier Award winner, receiving the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his portrayal of Miss Trunchbull in Matilda the Musical, and for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his exceptional performance as Rupert Murdoch in Ink. Carvel's talent extends to television, where he has captivated audiences as Jonathan Strange in Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Simon Foster in Doctor Foster, and Adam Dalgliesh in Dalgliesh. He also starred in the ITV drama The Sister in 2020.
