    Beth Ditto, born Mary Beth Patterson on February 19, 1981, is an American singer and songwriter known for her work with the indie rock band Gossip. With a powerful voice often compared to Etta James, Janis Joplin, and Tina Turner, Ditto gained recognition for her captivating performances. She later disbanded Gossip to pursue a career in fashion and has since embarked on a successful solo career. In 2022, Ditto showcased her acting skills by portraying country singer Gigi Roman on the Fox drama series Monarch. Originally from Arkansas, Ditto grew up in a large family and moved to Olympia, Washington in 1999 before settling in Portland, Oregon in 2003. At the age of 18, she discovered influential bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Raincoats, and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
