Beto O'Rourke

Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke is an American politician who served as the U.S. representative for TX's 16th congressional district from 2013 to 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, O'Rourke was the party's nominee for the U.S. Senate in 2018, a candidate for the presidential nomination in 2020, and the party's nominee for the 2022 Texas gubernatorial election. Born in El Paso, Texas, O'Rourke graduated from Woodberry Forest School and Columbia University. He briefly pursued a music career as a bass guitarist in the band Foss while studying at Columbia. After college, he returned to El Paso and entered the business world. In 2005, he was elected to the El Paso City Council, serving until 2011.
