Betsey Johnson

Betsey Johnson (born August 10, 1942) is an American fashion designer known for her feminine and whimsical designs. Born in Wethersfield, Connecticut, Johnson grew up in Terryville and developed a love for costumes through dance classes. She studied at the Pratt Institute and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Syracuse University. Johnson began her fashion career after winning the Mademoiselle Guest Editor Contest. She quickly rose to prominence with her over-the-top and embellished designs. Johnson's signature cartwheel ending in a split became a trademark of her fashion shows.
