Betty Marion White (January 17, 1922 – December 31, 2021) was an American actress, comedian, and producer. With a career spanning eight decades, she was a pioneer of early television and known for her vast television appearances in sitcoms, sketch comedy, and game shows. White produced and starred in the series Life with Elizabeth (1953–1955), making her the first woman to produce a sitcom. She was a staple panelist on American game shows like Password, Match Game, and The Hollywood Squares. White received the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host in 1983, becoming the first woman to win the award. She also made guest and recurring appearances on shows such as The Carol Burnett Show, Mama's Family, and Boston Legal.
