Beverly Johnson

Beverly Ann Johnson (born October 13, 1952) is an American model, actress, singer, and businesswoman. She gained fame as the first black model to appear on the cover of American Vogue in August 1974. Prior to this, Donyale Luna was the first black model to appear on the cover of British Vogue in 1966. Johnson's groundbreaking achievement paved the way for more diversity in the fashion industry. In addition to her modeling career, Johnson has appeared in various movies and TV shows. She was the star of the reality series Beverly's Full House in 2012, which aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). Johnson has been recognized for her influence in fashion and was named one of the 20th century's most influential people in fashion by The New York Times in 2008.
