Bianca Amato

Bianca Amato is a South African actress known for her work in American theatre and as a prolific audiobook performer. She rose to fame as a member of the original cast of the long-running South African soap opera Isidingo, portraying the character Philippa De Villiers from 1998 to 2001. Amato's portrayal of Philippa, whose interracial romance with mine manager Derek Nyathi broke ground on South African television, earned her an Avante for Best Actress in a Television Series. In 2002, she was granted a United States Permanent Resident Card as an 'Alien of Extraordinary Ability.'
