Bill Kurtis, born William Horton Kuretich on September 21, 1940, is an American television journalist, producer, narrator, and news anchor. Initially studying to become a lawyer, Kurtis found himself in the world of news reporting after filling in on a temporary assignment at WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kansas. His coverage of a tornado outbreak propelled him into a successful career as a news anchor in Chicago. Known for his distinctive voice, Kurtis has anchored shows like The CBS Morning News and has a keen interest in investigative reports and documentaries. He founded Kurtis Productions and has hosted or produced notable crime and news documentary shows such as Investigative Reports, American Justice, and Cold Case Files. Kurtis currently serves as the scorekeeper/announcer for National Public Radio.
