Bill Paxton (May 17, 1955 – February 25, 2017) was an American actor and filmmaker. He gained recognition for his roles in popular films such as Aliens, Near Dark, Tombstone, True Lies, Apollo 13, Twister, Titanic, Mighty Joe Young, and A Simple Plan. Paxton also had supporting roles in Weird Science, Edge of Tomorrow, and Nightcrawler. He starred in the HBO drama series Big Love, earning three Golden Globe Award nominations. Paxton was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance in the History channel miniseries Hatfields & McCoys. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Paxton was the son of Mary Lou and John Lane Paxton.
