Bill Russell Biography
Bill Russell (1934-2022) was an American professional basketball player who played center for the Boston Celtics from 1956 to 1969. He was a key figure in the Celtics dynasty, winning 11 NBA championships during his career. Russell led the San Francisco Dons to consecutive NCAA championships in 1955 and 1956 and captained the gold medal-winning U.S. national basketball team at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Known for his defensive prowess, Russell was a dominant force on the court and is widely considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time. After his playing career, he served as a coach and mentor to several NBA teams.
