Billy Connolly Biography
Sir William Connolly, known by the nickname the Big Yin, is a Scottish actor, retired comedian, artist, writer, musician, and television presenter. Born on November 24, 1942, he is renowned for his idiosyncratic and improvised observational comedy, often featuring strong language. Connolly is considered one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time, topping numerous UK polls. In 2022, he received the BAFTA Fellowship for lifetime achievement. Initially a welder in the Glasgow shipyards, Connolly pursued a career as a folk singer before transitioning to comedy in the early 1970s. He was a member of the folk rock band The Humblebums before embarking on a successful solo career.
