Billy Joel

Billy Joel, born William Martin Joel on May 9, 1949, is an American singer, songwriter, and pianist. He gained popularity with his iconic 1973 song 'Piano Man,' earning him the nickname. Joel has had a successful solo music career since the 1970s, releasing twelve studio albums that encompass pop and rock genres. He is recognized as one of the world's best-selling music artists, with over 160 million records sold worldwide. Joel's compilation album 'Greatest Hits – Volume I & Volume II' from 1985 remains one of the highest-selling albums in the United States. Born in the Bronx, New York City, Joel grew up on Long Island and began playing the piano at a young age. He dropped out of high school to pursue music and signed a record deal with Family Productions.
