Blu del Barrio Biography
Blu del Barrio (born September 15, 1997) is an American actor, best known for their role as Adira Tal in Star Trek: Discovery. They made history as the first openly non-binary actor to portray a non-binary character in the Star Trek franchise. Del Barrio's passion for the performing arts began in childhood and led them to graduate from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2019. Beyond their acting career, del Barrio is a vocal advocate for transgender visibility and inclusivity in popular media. Born and raised in Southern California, del Barrio came out as non-binary in 2019 and uses they/them pronouns. Their role in Star Trek: Discovery was a catalyst for their public coming out journey. They chose the name Blu in 2019, inspired by their favorite childhood color.
