Robert William Barker (December 12, 1923 – August 26, 2023) was an American media personality and animal rights advocate. He is best known for hosting CBS's The Price Is Right from 1972 to 2007, making it the longest-running game show in North American television history. Prior to that, Barker hosted the game show Truth or Consequences from 1956 to 1975. Born in Darrington, Washington, Barker grew up on the Rosebud Indian Reservation as a citizen of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. He served in the United States Navy Reserve during World War II. Barker began his broadcasting career in radio before moving to California in 1950. He was known for his advocacy for animal rights and activism.
