Robert Patrick Gunton Jr. (born November 15, 1945) is an American character actor of stage and screen. He is best known for his roles as Warden Samuel Norton in The Shawshank Redemption, Chief George Earle in Demolition Man, and Secretary of State Cyrus Vance in Argo. Gunton has also appeared in various television shows, such as Daredevil, 24, and Desperate Housewives. With a career spanning film, television, and theater, he has received Tony Award nominations for his performances in Evita and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Born in Santa Monica, California, Gunton has also been honored with a Drama Desk Award, an Obie Award, and a Clarence Derwent Award.
