Bob Hope Biography
Bob Hope, born Leslie Townes Hope, was an American comedian, actor, entertainer, and producer. With a career that spanned nearly 80 years, he achieved success in vaudeville, network radio, television, and USO Tours. Hope appeared in more than 70 short and feature films, starring in 54 of them. He is best known for his series of seven Road to... musical comedy films with Bing Crosby. Additionally, he hosted the Academy Awards show a record 19 times. Hope also had numerous stage productions and television roles, and authored 14 books. Born in London, he immigrated to the United States at the age of four and grew up near Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to his entertainment career, Hope was a boxer in the 1910s.
