Robert Arthur Mould, born October 16, 1960, is an American musician known for his work as a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for alternative rock bands Hüsker Dü in the 1980s and Sugar in the 1990s. Mould was born in Malone, New York, and lived in various places before settling in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. He attended Simley Highschool in Inver Grove Heights and Macalester College. Alongside Grant Hart and Greg Norton, Mould formed Hüsker Dü in the late 1970s. The band gained recognition for their punk rock sound and signed with Warner Bros. Records in 1986. Mould's contributions to Hüsker Dü and Sugar have made him a significant figure in alternative rock history.
