Brandon James Routh is an American actor known for his portrayal of Superman in the 2006 film Superman Returns, gaining him international recognition. Born on October 9, 1979, Routh also played the title character in the 2011 film Dylan Dog: Dead of Night and had a recurring role as Daniel Shaw in the NBC series Chuck. He has appeared in supporting roles in films such as Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008) and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010). In 2014, Routh was cast as Ray Palmer / The Atom in the TV series Arrow, which led to his appearances in The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. He reprised his role as Superman in the 2019 Arrowverse crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and made his final appearance as the character in The Flash in 2022.
