Bret Easton Ellis

Bret Easton Ellis (born March 7, 1964) is an American author and screenwriter. He is known for his satirical style and expression of extreme acts and opinions in an affectless manner. Ellis gained recognition as a member of the literary Brat Pack. His first novel, Less than Zero (1985), stirred controversy and became a bestseller. American Psycho (1991), his third novel, faced criticism for its violence and misogyny, leading to its release as a paperback by Alfred A. Knopf. Ellis's novels often feature recurring characters and have embraced metafictional elements in works like Lunar Park (2005) and Imperial Bedrooms (2010).
