Brian Patrick Stelter is an American journalist born on September 3, 1985, in Damascus, Maryland. He is known for his roles as the former chief media correspondent for CNN and host of the CNN program Reliable Sources, serving from 2013 to 2022. Stelter started his career as a media reporter for The New York Times and later became the editor of TVNewser. He attended Damascus High School and graduated from Towson University, where he was the editor-in-chief of The Towerlight. While still a student, he created the blog TVNewser, which he later sold to Mediabistro. Stelter joined The New York Times in 2007 as a media reporter and became one of the youngest staff members at the time. In November 2013, he became the host of CNN's Reliable Sources and a senior media correspondent for CNN Worldwide.
