Bryn Allen
Bryn Allen (23 March 1921 – 21 July 2005) was a Welsh professional footballer who played as an inside forward in the 1940s and 1950s. Born in Gilfach Goch, Glamorgan, Allen caught the attention of several football League clubs as a schoolboy, including Manchester United. However, he had an unsuccessful trial with them. At the age of 16, he signed for Swansea Town but his career was interrupted by the Second World War. During the war, he served in the Royal Navy on board the battleship HMS Duke of York. After the war, Allen played for Cardiff City and was signed permanently by the club in December.
